Ronc Platât

Location:
Colli Orientali
Ronc Platat is the small, Colli Orientali winery of rising star winemaker, Tommaso ‘Tommy’ Zanuttini founded in 2020. Zanuttini left his career as an attorney in Milan to return to his hometown in Friuli to pursue his passion of wine under the mentorship of lifelong family friends Serena Palazzolo and Christian Patat of Ronco del Gnemiz. Ronc Platat means “Hidden Hill” , as the winery is nestled below the Badia di Rosazzo.
A true garagiste, Tommy works out of a small, rustic winery at Ronc Platat and sources fruit from a number of vineyards throughout the Colli Orientali, most of which are in the southern Colli Orientali areas of Buttrio and Manzone. A young, passionate, gregarious wine lover, Tommy approaches wine making with an astute lens of tasting, driven by curiosity and a passion to explore the great wines and wine regions of the world.
He farms his 6 hectares biologically and has small old vineyards of mostly north facing, cool sites where he coaxes out great tension and length from old vines of friulano, chardonnay, ribolla and refosco. Friulano bottlings are aged in old oak barrique barrels while chardonnay bottlings see some percentage of new oak and undergo malolactic fermentation.
All whites are whole cluster pressed with extremely soft pressing in a horizontal press. In addition to the Ronc Platat label, Tommy, and a small handful of 5 friends started a project together called GAF (Garagisti Anorimi Friulani) where together they bottle a white and red blend from exceptional vineyards.
